Dubbed as the world’s largest football tournament for the youth, Norway Cup is now on its 36th year. Some 1,500 teams with 30,000 participants from 50 nations competed in the event which has 4,400 scheduled matches held at 62 football fields. Early on during their early matches, the young footballers showed their superiority over the European kids when they demolished the two Norwegian teams, Strømmen, 10 -0 and the Nordstrand.
Their winning streak lasted until their last three games on Thursday, July 31, demolishing their opponents Lyn 2, 4 -1; Gruner 2 – 0 and Holmlia, 3 - 1. Despite complaining of stiff legs and tiredness, the kids, because of their will power to win and boosted by the cheering of the Filipino community managed to win the game. Team coach Potenciano Fernandez said “I have my complete confidence with them,” adding that all that he asked from his kid’s team is their “heart.”
